Cockatoos are all over Australia, and the red-tailed black cockatoo is no exception. Up here in northern Queensland, you will see flocks of these giant birds foraging on the ground or squawking in the trees. Red-tailed black cockatoos get their name from the red stripes on the bottom of their tail feathers; however, only the males possess these red stripes. So that means the cockatoo in this picture is male.
