BEAR LAKE CUTTHROAT TROUT

On the way back from Colorado I stopped over at the family cabin in Strawberry valley to save an hour driving in the dark. In the morning I decided to try my luck in Bryant's bay of the reservoir. At first I was using a silver spinner, and the fish would fallow it, but wouldn't strike. I had heard from some fisherman that a brass spinner works best if the Suns out, but a lot of what fisherman say should be taken with a gain of salt. But I tried it anyway, and sure enough on the first cast I watched this monster rise from the deep and rush at the spinner. You can tell by how fast they go after it whether they are going to strike, and she was moving fast and furious, and hit it hard!. I set the hook and hauled her in. She was over 20"in long and weighed more than 3 pounds. The biggest trout I have ever caught, keeping in mind that I will only fish for native, wild trout, which usually means fishing small streams above 9,000ft where they rarely get over 15"in. What a Beauty! I caught another little 9" trout on the second cast, and on the 3rd another monster as big or bigger than this one, but it got loose before I could land it.
