Scavenging Snow Monkey (Video)
Background: This day we went to go see the famous swimming snow monkeys of Japan, which was long trip. A two hour train to Nagano, followed by another 45 minute train ride to Yudanaka, followed by a 15 minute bus ride, followed by another 30 minutes of walking uphill. All to see some monkeys. Was it worth it? Hell yeah!

I treat my animals like family; I would never ever keep them on a chain!!!! My dogs are only chain to my heart!!
I speak for those who cannot speak for or defend themselves. And I will continue to fight this fight to the last beat of my heart.
We have decided to devote our time to help the lives of animals. Animals are suffering every minute, every day. We are also decent and compassionate people dedicated to speaking out for animals. All animals should be treated with compassion, love and respect.
I am committed to the welfare of the unloved dogs in our area and intend to continue fighting for them will spend all my time and money to help animals in need.
“All animals should be treated with compassion, love and respect”
“There is little that separates humans from other sentient beings—we all feel pain, we all feel joy, we all deeply crave to be alive and live freely, and we all share this planet together.” Gandhi

I really have no clue what kind of accident happened to this crocodile in his childhood and made his jaw like this, what I know for sure, he was so old and very big.
I am still puzzled also why people threw some coins all over him....donation.....fear.....religious practice? I dunno!
and by the way, my previous post of ~ THE EYE ~ belongs to this creepy crocodile.

sad puppy [598]
So Gizmo got neutered on Thursday. But then he couldn't leave his sutures alone, so he had to go back to the vet today. Now's he got a staple, has to take an antibiotic, and gets to wear the cone of shame. Yes, he is truly a sad puppy now.

Veterinary pathologist Stephen Raverty at work
BC Ministry of Agriculture veterinary pathologist Stephen Raverty “really gets into his work!” Here he's inside the abdominal cavity of a fin whale, the second largest mammal in the world, examining how the animal died. He screens for health concerns that may not only impact other members of the animal’s population, but may also be transmitted to other living creatures, including humans.

New York Humane Lobby Day '09
Over 100 members and supporters of The Humane Society of the United States joined together on Mon, March 30th, 2009 in Albany for the New York State Humane Lobby Day.
The animal advocates met with 107 of the 212 state legislators on pending legislation to strengthen anti-dogfighting laws, prohibit the canned shoots of captive exotic animals, crack down on puppy mills, and press for the humane treatment of "downed" farmed animals who are too sick or injured to get up for slaughter.
The event was co-sponsored by the New York State Humane Association. Senator Frank Padavan and Assemblymember Linda Rosenthal received humane legislators awards to commend their support and dedication to animal protection issues.

Canned animals

Tourist industry products
in Toronto, Canada
The beaver and the moose are two major symbols of Canada. Maple leaves are another major national symbol -- of course.
As a Canadian, I find it embarassing to post this photo -- even though I'm not some sort of nationalist. (I at least try to not be a nationalist. Clearly I'm not completely successful -- since these products bother me.)
Some animal rights advocates would find these canned animals outrageous.
As for why forest animals are symbols of Canada -
Those images mainly are hold-overs from a time when there weren't many Europeans here; the natives who were living here at the time didn't receive the same sort of attention.
Beavers were sought for their furs -- which were used to make fashionable hats, in particular.

The sThe spruce-fir moss spider is an endangered animal found only at the tops of the highest peaks in the eastern United States. This video follows a team of scientists as they search for the rare spider in order to carry specimens back to their lab for genetic analysis which will provide information to help guide future conservation efforts. The team included Dr. Marshal Hedin of San Diego State University; Dr. Fred Coyle, retired from Western Carolina University; Dr. Jason Bond of Auburn University; Service biologist Sue Cameron; and Service intern David Caldwell.

African Giraffe
The giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis) is an African even-toed ungulate mammal, the tallest of all land-living animal species, and the largest ruminant. The giraffe's scientific name, which is similar to its antiquated English name of camelopard, refers to its irregular patches of color on a light background, which bear a token resemblance to a leopard's spots. The average mass for an adult male giraffe is 1,200 kilograms (2,600 lb) while the average mass for an adult female is 830 kilograms (1,800 lb). It is approximately 4.3 metres (14 ft) to 5.2 metres (17 ft) tall, although the tallest male recorded stood almost 6 metres (20 ft).
