I thought I would feel really guilty about animal abuse and mistreatment, but the bears were like trying to break out of their enclosure to get onto stage. They seemed to love it, so I felt a little better. Plus, they were amazing!

CAMP HUMPHREYS — Dog lovers here gathered for Pet Fest 2012 at the Humphreys Veterinary Clinic May 5. The event featured the paws walk, a pet show, face painting, an agility course, pet photos, informational booths, a military working dog demonstration and an awards ceremony.

“We are really happy with the turnout and excited to be a part of the Camp Humphreys community,” said Capt. Amy Carlson, officer in charge at the Humphreys vet clinic. “We have many events such as face painting, doggy treats and grooming. Humphreys has been great to us and we have received lots of support. We look forward to continuing events like this today.”

The American Red Cross participated in the event to offer knowledge about pet first aid, while the Osan Animal Shelter provided information on pet adoptions.

The dog show had categories such as owner/pet lookalike, best dressed, best pet trick and best in show. Rocko, owned by Blair Bogle, was the biggest winner of the day, winning first prizes in owner/pet lookalike and best in show categories.

“This is a great opportunity to hang out with dog lovers and people with the same hobbies,” said pet owner Tom Stout. “This event also provided information for people who are PCS’ing and have pets with them. This was a fun day.”

Dominions Within Dominions: The Late Great Planet Earth
photos of animals

See this in BIGGER, BETTER View.

God gave us the earth. We have dominion over the plants, the animals, the trees. God said, 'Earth is yours. Take it. Rape it. It's yours.' -- Ann Coulter, Fox-TV: Hannity & Colmes, 20 Jun 01

Human beings have become the predominant destructive force on Earth. With power of hands and minds amplified by machines, our impact exceeds that of great floods, hurricanes and earthquakes. The time has come when we can envisage the end of nature; the time has come to realize that we are able to destroy the Earth. -- Calvin B. DeWitt

Planet Earth: It's a race against time. Destroy now, pay later. -- [Italics mine]

VEGETARIAN MMA UFC Ultimate Fighting Championship Fighter Mac Danzig - 2

A few nice animal pound images I found:

VEGETARIAN MMA UFC Ultimate Fighting Championship Fighter Mac Danzig - 2
animal pound
Vegetarian UFC MMA Fighter beat 16 other meat eaters and WON the entire Ultimate Fighting TUF Championship.

Vegetarian Mac Danzig was the most muscular contender and beat all the other meat eaters.

For anyone who mistakenly touts that plants dont contain protein, ALL of the protein found in meat comes from plants. How does that bull grow to be 2-thousand pounds of pure muscle? From the proten obtained by eating plants.

ALSO Steak is sopping with female hormones such as Estradiol that effeminizes a man who eats pieces of steak. Any man who eats meat, beef or steak is slowly effeminizing themself.

Look up "meat estradiol cattle" and you will find out.

Seminole Canyon State Park, Val Verde County, Texas. One of the more remote state parks, tucked into the southwest corner of Texas about an hour's drive west of Del Rio.

This area has been inhabited since the very earliest days that humans set foot in North America, going back nearly 12,000 years - back during the last Ice Age when the land was more verdant with now-extinct animals still roaming the surrounding prairies and forest. But over the millenia, the climate changed to its current, arid desert landscape - and the Indians adapted.

All through these years, the local Indians drew pictograms all over the surrounding canyon walls and caves. In the dry climate, protected by overhanging rock walls, many of these pictograms survived through the ages. Some of the more famous sites, such as the Fate Bell and Panther Cave, are the feature attractions of Seminole Canyon, and can be visited by guided tour through the park.

However, I have not yet visited these sites - instead focusing on other areas of the park. On the first visit (March 9th, 2008), I arrived after the park had closed for the day. I walked along the short 'Windmill Trail', a small loop near the visitor's center. This trail leads down to a small year-round spring and the ruins of a water catchment system that was used by local settlers over the past hundred years.

The return trip (September 27, 2008) was much more fruitful - I chose to hike the Rio Grande River Trail, a six-mile out-and-back loop that leads to the far corner of the park, almost a stone's throw from Old Mexico. With recent rains it was fairly lively and green, with countless butterflies passing through on their annual migration. The trail starts alongside the original 'Loop Trail', the 1882 railroad alignment that was abandoned a decade later when a less strenuous route was forged and the Pecos River High Bridge was built.

The trail itself is pretty boring - a flat, featureless hike across a nondescript desert plain. But the main highlight of the hike quickly comes into view. There is a mile-long spur shooting off to the left called the Pressa Trail, which leads to an overlook looking down at a three-way intersection in the Seminole Canyon below. Here, the waters from Lake Amistad many miles away along the Rio Grande peter out; to the right, the waters are wide and deep, muddied from the recent rainstorms. To the left, the two forks of Seminole Canyon are mostly dry. From the top of the overlook, sheer cliffs lead staight down over a hundred feet to the waters below. The view is, well, *breathtaking* - and worth the trip.

Back on the main trail, a few miles later it comes to an abrupt end at the junction where Seminole Canyon merges with the Rio Grande. The location overlooks the Panther Cave pictograms, on the opposite shore far below, accessible only by boat. To the right, a few hundred yards away, are the hills of Mexico. Here, the water is deeper, the canyons steeper, the chasm wider. An impressive view, although not as amazing as the Pressa Trail overlook.

From here, it is a straight hike back along the south portion of the loop, my only companion a great horned toad trying to hide in the gravel of the trail. I would like to return to this park to take the guided tours, and there are other tours available nearby on private land to other pictogram sites as well. And I am told this park is also fabulous for bird watchers as well.

Nice Animals Facts photos

Some cool animals facts images:

Bullfight
animals facts
It's quite hard to post those photos. Bullfighting is very long traditional event in Spain but people like me from outside of Spain might think it's brutal. For me it's more like documenting what I saw not I liked it so much. I think it should be forbidden.

From a technical point of view it has three parts called “tercios” or “suertes”: sticks, barbed darts and finally the matador’s stick with a red flag attached to it. The president of the fight, which includes six fights lasting 20 minutes each.

When the bull enters and during the first part, the matador in his traditional costume raises the red and gold flag. He makes sweeping motions with the cape and helpers both on foot and on horseback drive their lances into the bull, gauging the liveliness and characteristics of their opponent.
During the second part of the fight three pairs of darts are driven into the bull’s neck. In the final and the most distressing part of the fight the bullfighter becomes a killer.

This is the most dangerous part where he attracts the injured animal towards him. At the last moment he must kill the beast with a single thrust of his sword.

"For one week a year, thousands of locals and tourists gather, and pay to witness the a ritual which is advertised as glorious and entertaining (for the benefit of pompously dressed up males with questionable skills in avoiding collision with a big animal) but is in fact nothing short of gorry, gruesome and truly sad. Old and sick bulls are chosen to be killed in those rituals, and they are being weakened for weeks before the "fight".

They put laxatives in their food and heavy sandbags on their backs. They are often beaten. They file their horns down to the tender quick and they drug them. Prior to the Running, electric prods and sharp sticks are used to rile the bulls in a frenzy. Petroleum jelly is put in their eyes to blind them. Wet newspaper is stuffed in their ears and their vocal cords are cut to prevent the audience to hear their cries. Lances are driven into the bulls' neck muscles so they can't lift their heads. By the time the matador appears the bulls are weak from blood loss and disoriented from being chased in circles.

When the "fight" finally begins, the bull is already on the verge of collapsing, held only by his last instinct of survival. All dignity is stripped down from him and he is confused, desperate and suffering. Then, in the ring, the toreador slaughters the bull by stabbing the bull repeatedly in the spine. The bull's death is slow and not just ugly, it's petrifying and maddening. Often he wears long blankets to hide their entrails, which spill out when they are gorged and disemboweled."
